The Usenet News service is funded and operated by Computing and Information Services. Our goal is to enable students, faculty, and staff at Texas A&M to participate in and benefit from the information exchange on the Internet, enhancing both academic studies and professional development.

Organization of the TAMU Newsgroups

The TAMU newsgroups exist to facilitate discussion of topics related to Texas A&M. There are many other news hierarchies and groups that offer forums for general discussion. These newsgroups focus on the needs of the students, faculty, and staff at Texas A&M.

The hierarchy is organized as follows:

    tamu.culture.*  - Different cultural groups
    tamu.dept.*     - Departments and agencies
    tamu.flame      - Pointless bickering

    tamu.networks.* - Campus computer networks, LANs and WANs
    tamu.org.*      - Organizations, clubs, societies
    tamu.sports.*   - Intramural and others
    tamu.rec.*      - Recreational activities
