TAMU Email (Neo)

The Texas A&M official email service is based on a deployment of Zimbra software. This software has many features such as managing mail by using folders, sharing folders with others, calendars, and options to set interface preferences.

Sympa Mailing Lists

Sympa mailing lists are one of three mechanisms used to distribute official announcements to groups within the Texas A&M community. Sympa is a mailing list management software that is unique in its ability to generate subscriber lists using database SQL queries. This feature is used to automate list membership maintenance. As a person's information changes in the supporting data (adding/dropping classes, changing majors, working for a different department), they will be added to or removed from lists automatically. Sympa mailing lists are created for two major groups at Texas A&M: course lists for instructors to distribute messages to students; and organizational lists for messages to be distributed to campus, college, and departmental employee and student groups.

Account Deletions

In accordance with Texas A&M University information security guidelines, ongoing efforts are being conducted to inactivate and delete central computer and email accounts that are no longer eligible for continuation.

NetID Password Management

In accordance with Texas A&M University information security guidelines, NetID account holders must change their NetID passwords every 180 days or access to all resources controlled by their NetID will be disabled. A process that manages password expiration for NetIDs is in continuous operation. Customers can access tools to manage their NetID passwords through numerous interfaces including the Change NetID Password page reached from the Aggie Computing Gateway. Also, several email reminders are automatically provided to NetID account holders before their passwords become expired or disabled. People who have had their password disabled need to contact Help Desk Central.

Aggie Computing Gateway

The Texas A&M Aggie Computing Gateway provides a central place for links to university email, online documentation, and updated tools to manage NetID accounts. It includes fast, easy access to online university resources such as LISTSERV, MyRecord, and a new Directory Search.

Directory Search

A new, improved way to search for people, departments, and organizations is now available from both the Aggie Computing Gateway and the university home page.

Account Management Suite

To provide the best possible service to our customers, the current NetID account management applications are being upgraded and enhanced. The first of these improved services are already online at the Aggie Computing Gateway. These include Change NetID Password, Edit Email & Directory Information, and Directory Search.
