
The Systems Group is charged with support for the central servers operated by CIS. This support focuses primarily on the operating system and closely related utilities and programs.
The group is comprised of four teams that are comprised of a Team Leader and varying numbers of team members. The Systems Group is led by a Associate Director, Mike Bolton, reporting to the Director of CIS.
Database Support
The Database Support Group provides database administration and support
services for Oracle, MS SQL Server, ADABAS, Natural, CICS, and a variety of
MVS/OS390 applications.
IBM Systems Support
The IBM Systems Support Group is comprised of two teams which provide
systems software support for the IBM MVS and VM operating systems.
Availability, security, ability to handle high transaction rates, maintain
large amounts of data, and the provision of full backup and recovery
functions are the hallmark of these systems. These functions are supported
by the VM and MVS teams in cooperation with the CIS Operations group.
Infrastructure Applications
The Infrastructure Applications team has responsibility for software projects
concerning middleware, services, and associated applications available
across the enterprise servers that the group supports.
Open Systems Support
The Open Systems Support Group provides system administration,
applications and system programming, and engineering support for
a general access Unix and OpenVMS computing resources available
for use by all TAMU
students, employees, faculty and staff including those systems that
support campus email and directory services. Also provided are
publicly available
www, ftp services, Usenet News and LISTSERV services.
