Software Install Request Practices

Important Note: Please allow six weeks to complete a software installation at the OALs.

Computing and Information Services (CIS) and LAN Systems Support (LSS) are responsible for adhering to copyright laws for software installed in the OALs. If there is any software found to violate laws regulating the distribution and use of software, the software in dispute will be removed.

For the software you want installed, you must have the number of license agreements as you plan on running in the labs. A concurrent license agreement is the preferred option. Please ask your vendor about concurrency and software metering when you are planning a purchase.

LSS reserves the right to refuse a software request for security reasons.

To install software, LSS requires the following:

  • A copy of the license agreement allowing at least 30 concurrent users and without limitations on server installations
  • The software
  • Proof of purchase
  • Signed Software Install Request form

Any software installation request meeting the above stated requirements will be installed in ALL of the OALs. Limitations on concurrent usage will be implemented to observe license restrictions.

CIS Help Desk staff will provide support for the requested software only if adequate documentation is provided.

When making a request during the semester, expect the delay for the completion of the installation to six weeks. This is due the difficulty of installing software in the labs while the computers are in use. Please plan accordingly.
