OAL Information for Faculty and Staff

Accessing the OAL Computers

If you are a faculty member, you automatically have an OAL account. However, to use the computers in the labs, you will need to activate your account:

  1. Click the Account Services link to go to the Manage OAL Account page. Log in with your NetID and password.
  2. Select the Activate My Account link and click Activate Account.
  3. Once your account is activated, you can log in to any OAL computer using your NetID and password.

For staff, your department determines whether you are authorized to have an OAL account. To check your status:

  1. Click the Account Services link to go to the Manage OAL Account page. Log in with your NetID and password.
  2. If you are authorized, you will see "Authorized to use the CIS Computing Labs and Printers" in the Authorization field. Activate your OAL account as above.
  3. If you are not authorized, call CIS Account Services at 979.845.7223 for assistance.

Note: In some cases, a temporary ID can be created for use in an OAL classroom for those who do not have an authorized account. Requests for temporary accounts should be made to the Lab Supervisor at least two working days prior to the scheduled class time or at the time of the classroom reservation.

Printing at the OAL

Faculty members have an OAL print allocation automatically created for them.

Note: For faculty, if you plan on having students print documents or plots at the OAL for you, be sure to authorize them to use your print allocation. Otherwise, the student's account can be charged. Contact CIS Account Services at 979.845.7223 for assistance.

For staff members who are authorized to print, the authorizing department is billed through their CIS account. If you have questions about your department's account, call CIS Account Services.

Computer Classrooms

Seven OAL computer classrooms located across campus are available for reservation. To find out more, see OAL Classrooms.

If you are ready to make a reservation, be sure to fill out the OAL Classroom Request Form.
