OAL Classrooms

The OALs provide support for student instruction with seven classrooms located across campus. Each classroom is equipped with computers, a Proxima projector, and an instructor's terminal.

Who Can Use a Classroom?

To log in and use the computers in the OAL classrooms, you need an activated OAL account. These accounts are automatically available to all faculty and registered students (but require activation). For staff, your department determines whether you are authorized to have an OAL account. For more information on OAL accounts, see As a Student, What Do I Need to Know? and OAL Information for Faculty and Staff.

Note: In some cases, a temporary ID can be created for use in an OAL classroom for those who do not have an authorized account. Requests for temporary accounts should be made to the Lab Supervisor at least two working days prior to the scheduled class time or at the time of the classroom reservation.

Reserving a Classroom

To reserve a classroom, complete the OAL Classroom Request Form. Reservations can be requested for an entire semester or as an individual booking. Reservations are accepted on a first request basis for both semester and individual bookings. For a semester booking, request the reservation during the semester prior to the desired schedule. Individual bookings are scheduled the first working day after the semester deadline. Any semester reservations received after the deadline will be scheduled as best we can. Please contact Cynthia Burdick 979.458.1369 or email at cyn2@tamu.edu for details and deadlines.
Note: The OAL classrooms' primary purpose is to provide support for student computing instruction. However, reservations for other university uses can be made on a case-by-case basis.

Special Software Needs

If you need software installed in an OAL classroom, complete the Software Install Request. Software must also have as many license agreements as you plan on running in the labs. Please give two weeks notice before the beginning of a semester or four to six weeks during the semester.
Please review our practices about installing software in the OALs.
