In this tutorial I'm going to show you how to import contacts from the Traditional Neo interface over to the new Texas A&M Email client. It's not a very difficult process and should only take a few minutes, so lets go ahead and get started.
From hdc.tamu.edu, click on "Applications." Then Click on “Traditional NEO Contacts” . You’ll see a web form asking for your NetID and Password Log in and click Submit. A dialog box pops up, asking you to save a file “traditional_contacts.csv.” This Comma Separated Values, or CSV file contains a list of all your contacts. Save this file to your desktop. You’re halfway done.
Next we're going to import this CSV file into TAMU Email. Simply navigate to email.tamu.edu, and log in with your NetID and password. Once you've logged in, click the "Preferences Tab." Under Preferences, click "Address Book". You should now see an Import/Export form. In the import field, click the "Browse" button to locate your csv file. Once you've found it, click "Import .CSV File".
A window will open asking you to "Choose Address Book", where you want to save these contacts. Click your desired folder. At default you may choose either "Contacts" or "Emailed Contacts". You can also create a new book, if you prefer, by clicking the "New Button" at the bottom left. Once you've chosen your folder, click OK. A green dialog box appears which says "Importing" When completed, the dialog box will notify you how many contacts were successfully imported.
Finally, click the "Address Book" tab, and go to your specified book where you chose to save your contacts and verify that they have been imported correctly. If you experience any problems or difficulties, please contact Help Desk Central at 979.845.8300 or at helpdesk@tamu.edu.
